I like how many friends are walking distance from me. Living on campus is convenient and I feel that it is a great way to become more independent.

Undergraduate Admission

Minor in Mathematics

If there's one major that attracts creative, critical thinkers, it's mathematics. The rigor, logic, and innovation required of math majors provide students with excellent preparation for a host of professions in the modern job market.

Cal Lutheran's broadly designed, challenging mathematics program features small classes that emphasize faculty-student interaction, access to state-of-the-art computer laboratories and in-classroom technology, an interdisciplinary approach to learning, and opportunities to build teaching skills by tutoring in the Math Lab.

In addition to the required mathematics courses, students are also required to complete courses in physics, and encouraged to study chemistry and computer science.

Many math students extend their learning through internships, by collaborating with faculty on research projects, and by participating in summer research programs. CLU's proximity to many high-tech and research-focused corporations and organizations gives students the opportunity to apply what they learn to real-life work situations.

Students considering careers in secondary mathematics education may complete the CLU Single Subject Waiver Program in Mathematics, which allows them to enroll directly in a teaching credential program upon graduation.

Whatever their professional goals, CLU's math majors become generalists with well-honed critical thinking skills that can be applied to a wide variety of situations-making them prized assets in many career fields.
