Application Checklist

  1. 1. Submit an application

     

    2.  Official Transcripts

    Submit all high school/secondary school transcripts to the Office of Undergraduate Admission. Transcripts should include grades through the most recently completed semester or quarter. If applicable, please submit transcripts from all college/university coursework attempted so they may be evaluated for transferable credit.

    Note: A certified English translation must be sent with original documents.

     

    3. Letter of Recommendation

    Ask a teacher or academic counselor to complete and return the Academic Recommendation form. Additional letters of recommendation may be submitted but only one is required.

     

    4. Official Test Scores

    If you are applying as a freshman, please submit official score reports from the SAT I or ACT test.

                    • The Cal Lutheran identification code for the SAT is #4088.

                    • The Cal Lutheran identification code for the ACT is #0183.

     

    5. Essay

    The essay portion of the application allows us to learn a little more about you, as well as how you think and express yourself.

     

    6.  English proficiency

    Conversational and academic proficiency of English is an integral part of studying at Cal Lutheran. As a part of your application for admission at you have a variety of ways that you can provide proof of your English proficiency.

    English Proficiency Tests: Students may provide official score reports with qualifying scores to any of the following English language examinations. This documentation should be submitted together with your admission application materials.

    • TOEFL: 213 computer-based;  550 paper-based; or 79 internet-based
    • IELTS: 6.5
    • Pearsons (PTE Academic): 58
    • Completion of ELS 112

    Academic English Instruction: Students who have received a significant amount of their academic instruction in English will be required to submit their school’s academic profile together with their official transcripts and may be exempt from further English proficiency requirements. This includes students who have completed 30 units (including English composition) at a U.S. college or university and students who have attended four years of high school instruction in English.
