Community Leaders Association

President's Message

John A. Short III

As an alumnus and longtime supporter of California Lutheran University, it is my honor to serve as President of the CLU Community Leaders Association (CLA). CLA board members are enthusiastic and passionate about helping students and faculty alike while working closely with community leaders and fostering relationships between CLU and the surrounding communities.

CLA is proud to be a part of the growth that the university is experiencing well beyond its main campus here in Thousand Oaks. CLA board members are outstanding ambassadors for California Lutheran University. I would like to personally thank them for their service to the community, the University, faculty and the students. Each and every one one of you is making a difference.

One of our goals is to increase the funding that CLA provides for academic endeavors, including student scholarships and faculty grants. We are seeking assistance in achieving these goals through support in our signature events:  Hats & High Tea in April, the CLA Golf Tournament in June and the Mathews Leadership Forum during the fall. You can also support us through our online CLA Store with offers a variety of items and donation opportunities to fund the educational grants provided to students. Visit our online store at www.callutheran.edu/cla/store

Community Leaders Association is also focusing on raising awareness and visibility of CLU through networking opportunities and building relationships with community leaders, while staying informed on current events that are happening at CLU. Our main focus is to help the surrounding communities understand that the students and faculty are changing the world as they discover and live their purpose.

On behalf of the entire CLA Board of Directors, I would encourage and invite you to share of your time, your talents and your gifts with the University.

May 2014 bring each of you much joy, prosperity and many blessings.

We look forward to working with you.

Sincerely yours,

John A. Short III
