Work Control is the central contact point for the Facilities Department for service requests, preventative maintenance, key control and urgent or emergency repairs. Work Control communicates directly with Trades, Grounds, Housekeeping and Planning components of Facilities. Once a work order request is received, it is screened and routed to the appropriate trade based on the urgency of the request and the scope of work. Requests that involve significant planning are forwarded to Capital Projects for review.
Processing slightly under 10,000 work orders a year is no small feat. We have 4-5 well-trained students to help assist Work Control in receiving and processing work orders, tracking labor hours, scheduling heating and air-conditioning, answering phones and dispatching calls.

Work Control Staff
Maureen Buchanan Hening is the Support Services Assistant performing a variety of complex administrative duties to assist with the operation and efficiency of the Facility Operations & Planning. Maureen manages the university lockshop and key control system. She repairs and installs locks in addition to cutting and duplicating keys. She organizes and facilitates the yearly deferred maintenance process, and oversees preventaive maintenance for campus vehicles and HVAC equipment. She serves as backup to the Work Control Desk.
