Diana Lynn Barnes is a psychotherapist with a private practice located in the San Fernando Valley. In addition to her teaching position in graduate psychology at CLU, Dr. Barnes is an assistant professor at Los Angeles Pierce College and Los Angeles Valley College where she teaches child development and marriage and family studies. She is a fellow of the American Psychotherapy Association and a clinical member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists. She co-authored The journey to parenthood: Myths, reality and what really matters, published by Radcliffe Publishing in Oxford. In 2009, Dr. Barnes received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Eli Lilly Foundation for her outstanding contributions to the field of mood-related disorders.

Diana Lynn Barnes is an internationally recognized expert on the assessment and diagnosis of perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. She is the past president of Postpartum Support International and currently sits on the President's Advisory Council for that organization. In addition, she is a member of the Los Angeles County Perinatal Mental Health Task Force and is one of their training faculty. Dr. Barnes also sits on the statewide California Maternal Mental Health Task Force. She is well-known as a trainer and consultant on all facets of women's reproductive mental health. In addition to a private practice specializing in women's mental health, Dr. Barnes is a nationally known forensic expert on perinatal illness and postpartum psychosis and is often called upon by defense counsel on cases of infanticide, pregnancy denial, neonaticide, child abuse and neglect
