Mission
SHIFT
Shifts are usually between 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Positions and shifts will vary between PT and FT depending on the cleaning requests. Candidate must have the ability to work flexible hours, overtime and weekends on occasions. All hires are temporary status and may not always receive a 40 hour workweek. The Summer Program runs from mid May to the end of August, however, starting and ending employment dates may vary depending on need.
Basic Function
Under the direction of the Housekeeping Supervisor, these positions will be temporary housekeepers assisting CLU’s Housekeeping Staff with maintaining the campus buildings during the university’s summer programs. The majority of assistance involves cleaning residential halls during the campus camp program, with occasional assistance assigned to cleaning of office space, classrooms, labs, conference room, food service areas, and athletic venues. Candidates should be able to work in a team environment maintaining an efficient and professional customer-oriented service performance for the Facilities Department
Representative Duties
Clean, sweep, wash walls & windows, mop floors, vacuum, steam clean and spot clean carpets in all interior spaces.
Clean restrooms and kitchens.
Clean all interior residence hall surfaces.
Write up tickets to for maintenance need, i.e. replace/repair lighting, blinds and other misc. items within residential housing units.
Remove trash and recycling from various locations.
Make adjustments in work schedule for summer or special programs on campus.
Change linen, make beds and speed clean residence halls for quick changeovers due to the event programs and summer.
Some positions will be hired to at higher end of the salary range noted above due to experience in operation janitorial floor machine or team leadership role.
Knowledge Of
Custodial cleaning operations for floor care, bathrooms, lounges, hallways, offices, cafeterias, athletic spaces and conference rooms.
Proper methods to clean mirrors, windows and walls.
Methods and equipment used to buff floors.
Methods used to maintain different types of floor surfaces such as tile, wood, cement, and carpet.
Cleaning products for various types of surface materials.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Ability To
Follow directions and work independently with little supervision.
Maintain strict confidentiality.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
Follow regulations, policies and procedures.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions in English.
Communicate in English
Availability to work various 8 hour shifts including Saturdays, Sundays and overtime.
Education and Experience
All Candidates must have Basic English skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and math skills related to the performance of this job.
Custodial cleaning experience is preferred.
Knowledge of cleaning products and methods used to maintain different types of surface materials is not required, but would be beneficial.
Experience with leading a team or operating floor machines is required for some positions.
Some positions will require a Valid California Driver’s License
Environment
The environment is a campus setting with numerous buildings for residential spaces, offices, classrooms, labs, conference rooms, meeting rooms, athletic facilities, cafeterias, and lecture halls.
Equipment, Tools and Training programs will be provided.

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Ability to lift up to 25 lb. and move up to 60 lb
Ability to walk up and down stairs and carry paper products and supplies.
Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the telephone.
Seeing to read a variety of materials.
