Title:  Accessing Computer Training Classes Online (a workshop)   
Description:  If you can’t find time to attend a computer training class on campus, come to one of these workshops and create your own account to access online classes. With this new pilot program Cal Lutheran faculty, administrators, and staff can acquire additional computer skills anytime, anywhere, and in the way they like to learn. Among the many courses available are the Microsoft Office 2007 suite applications, including: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, Visio, OneNote and even Project). Attend one of these workshops to create your own account and gain access to online courses.

Title:  Microsoft Office OneNote (PC only, application not available for the Mac)
Description:  Make more time in your day! Ramp up time management effectiveness by organizing emails, conducting quick searches, setting up reminders, and even more while using an electronic notebook. Easily create subject-specific notebooks organized in a convenient tab format. In addition, enhance teamwork (and save trees) by storing your work group’s OneNote notebook in a shared folder so colleagues can access and review content online. Results of your last meeting are easily retrieved from OneNote.

Title:   Microsoft Office Publisher
Description:  Create great looking publications in Publisher with little more effort than formatting a Word document. In this class learn to build a flyer, newsletter, custom invitations, business cards labels, and other documents using design templates which have already done a lot of the work for you .Find out how elements on a page can be quickly and perfectly aligned with little effort. Don’t settle for less than professional looking graphic design documents ever again.

Title: PowerPoint 2007 and SmartArt  
Description:  Bored with the same PowerPoint slide designs? This class explores how to use “SmartArt” graphics to enhance the overall effectiveness of a slide presentation. One past participant said that she would “highly recommend this class to anyone.” She went on to say that after making presentations “people pull me aside” and ask “How did you do that?” Many topics will be covered, here is a partiallist:

  • Add a SmartArt graph to a slide
  • Utilize all of the SmartArt tools on the Design and Format Ribbon tabs
  • Convert a bulleted list to a SmartArt graphic
  • Combine text and SmartArt graphics for greater impact
  • Customize a SmartArt graphic to create a one-of-a-kind image
  • Animate a SmartArt graphic
  • Create an org chart that includes photo images and/or names of employees, plus hyperlinks
