Program Tracks

Cal Lutheran's MBA in Financial Planning degree requires students to successfully complete a program comprised of 16, three-credit hour courses (totaling 48 credits).

The Program offers two MBA tracks and a certificate-only option.

Track 1

MBA in Financial Planning + Eligibility to sit for the CFP® Exam

Consists of eight business-administration courses and eight financial-planning (FP) courses. The eight FP courses are accredited by the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) Board of Standards. Upon completion of the program, students will earn an MBA in Financial Planning and gain eligibility to sit for the prestigious CFP® Certification Exam.

Track 2

MBA in Financial Planning only

Identical to the first track except for the fact that five of the introductory-level financial planning courses are replaced with advanced financial planning courses and interdisciplinary-study courses. Upon completion of the program, students will earn an MBA in Financial Planning.

Certificate Option

Eligibility to sit for the CFP® Exam only

In addition to the MBA-FP program, we offer a certificate-only program for candidates who wish to work towards the CFP® certification in a graduate studies framework. The certificate program is designed exclusively for professionals who have an MBA or other business-related professional degree, e.g. JD, CPA, or those with significant experience in the financial planning field.
