Fast-Track MPPA: 4+1
As a current Cal Lutheran undergraduate student, you can earn a Master of Public Policy and Administration (MPPA) degree in an accelerated, fast-track model with only one additional year of study.
The fast-track MPPA: 4+1 is a great way to jumpstart your career or prepare for professional or doctorate studies.
- Admission is based on having senior status at CLU and a minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Once you are pre-admitted, enroll in one or two concurrent graduate MPPA 11-week courses. The cost of the MPPA classes can be included in your undergraduate tuition (Contact Graduate Admission office to learn how to apply for MPPA fast track program ).
- Upon graduation, you will be fully admitted to the MPPA program and can complete your graduate degree in one year of full time study. Or, you may choose to work and take classes parttime for two years.
What can I do with the MPPA degree?
MPPA graduates enjoy successful careers in government agencies, non-profit organizations, politics, private consulting firms and academics.
The skills provided for the MPPA degree are vital for success in any leadership or management position. For students without full-time administrative experience, the program provides a practical hands-on internship.
What MPPA courses will I take?
The MPPA program is a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary approach to public affairs education. Students enter the program from a variety of undergraduate programs in the humanities, social sciences, natural sciences and education.
You will have 5 core courses in law, ethics, theory, research methods and policy implementation, and elective courses in a variety of areas including strategic planning, budgeting, organization dynamics, environmental policy and health care policy just to name a few. The program is designed to fit your interests and career goals.

You will learn from CEOs, State Assembly members, policy analysts, budget managers and police chiefs, among others. The wealth of talent and expertise of the faculty brings exciting perspectives to the classroom and prepares students for real world success with the MPPA degree.
