Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Leadership

About the Program

Also available online Learn more »

The Organizational Leadership major is a dynamic interdisciplinary bachelor's degree that creates effective and proactive leaders by developing their interpersonal, communication, organizational, and critical thinking skills.

Through an intentional and creative blend of theory and evaluation of application, you will acquire and practice supervision and leadership skills which are applied in organizations such as non-profit agencies, large and small business settings, government agencies, and professional and social services.

Once you complete the Organizational Leadership degree, you will have acquired the leadership skills employers value — effective communication, critical thinking, collaborative team building, and complex leadership problem solving. Organizational Leadership graduates learn:

  • How to become an effective and productive team leader through influence and power
  • How to leverage technology to maximize and ease organizational communication to improve performance
  • How to successfully engage subordinates within culturally diverse environments
  • How to leverage their personal strengths to maximize their influence
  • How to implement their own values based, ethical decision-making practices to support the organization and its stakeholders

Benefits

While a college education in any specialization has many benefits, there are some that are key to enrolling in the Organizational Leadership major.

First, you will enhance your ability to think proactively — to develop your own personal leadership development philosophy, to learn leadership skills, theory, and application from expert faculty, conduct organizational research, and solve complex leadership problems.

Second, you will practice the skills you need to manage the increasingly diverse workforce in organizations today.

Third, you will further develop your personal sense of ethical dimensions of leadership — leading with character and knowledge.

Finally, the Organizational Leadership program prepares you to move forward to an advanced degree program, such as an M.B.A. or doctoral program in organizational development or leadership. Whatever your professional, academic, or personal goals may be, the Organizational Leadership degree should be the next step on your path to achieving your goals.
