Master of Education in Teaching

Program Overview

Elementary school students in classroom with two teachers

After completing the credential requirements through the Teaching Preparation Program, students may pursue the Master of Education degree (M.Ed.).

Throughout the Teacher Preparation program, students will have worked consistently on the application of theory to practice. In the M.Ed. program, students focus on the importance of research in the development of theory and will eventually do their own action research project as a culminating experience.

The degree consists of 33 units of graduate work and a presentation of the research project. Of that 33 units, 24 come from the coursework taken in Methods and Student Teaching. An additional three courses are required to complete the M.Ed.

Cal Lutheran's Master of Education in Teaching program is offered in Ventura County at the main CLU campus in Thousand Oaks as well as the CLU Graduate Center in Oxnard, and in the San Fernando Valley at the CLU Graduate Center in Woodland Hills.
